4th of July Show!

What a 4th of July fireworks display!  Mark Helterbrand wanted a 30 minute show, he got a 29 minute show.  Not bad!  The show went off without a hitch and was well timed.  Mark and his team including Jared Kasper, Mark’s relatives the Sipes family, and young Michael (we do not know his last name, but he is a very nice 15 year old young man in our neighborhood) put together an awesome show.  in fact, thanks to Santanu Das you can see some outstanding shots of the show here  You will really enjoy this surprise.  The Jupiter Jump was popular with the kids from 7:00 to the end at 9:30 supervised by Laura Zinter and Brad Hayes.  The cleanup crew got started about 6:30 AM and was nearly done by 7:45 AM Saturday.  They included Don Tomkalwski, Rick Page and his daughter Gabrielle and Brad Hayes.  Roger and Nancy Coulter hosted everyone at their house and coordinated the whole event.  And Jared Kasper had the pond area looking beautiful!!

To all of these helpers, a big thank you!!!

We financially made our goal, and a big thank you for all of our pledges.  That is what finally makes this show and neighborhood event possible.

Everyone coming together is what makes this big neighborhood event possible.  Again, thank you very much for your participation!

In a disappointing decision by the police and fire department, all neighborhood events were canceled for the 4th of July.  I went to Firehouse 5 to talk to them about it.  Apparently, last year, when a fire call came in, on the way out of the neighborhood, a car was clipped by the fire truck due to tight parking on the street at the event.  This was not our neighborhood.  Additionally, 4th of July is one of the busiest times for both the police and the fire department.  Sometimes they can not make the commitment due to calls.  According to the captain, we were scheduled until the morning of 4th of July, and an e-mail was sent out canceling all appearances.  Of course, the Fire and Police visiting our event was really missed by all of us.  We will approach the city next spring when the home owner associations meet and see if there is a way we can start it again.  Having a visit form the police and fire department was really appreciated by all, especially the kids.

Again, a big thank you to everyone for making this another very successful neighborhood event!

The Great Estates of Pembrooke Park Neighborhood Garage Sale

We are just one week away from our great Estates at Pembrooke Park Neighborhood Garage Sale.  I hope you have been thinking about what you want to sell.

Here is how it works.  The Home Owners Association is advertising the garage sale.  We will have signs at the entrance to the Trails to drive people into the neighborhood.  The hours will start at 8:00 AM.  We have had people in the neighborhood as early as 7:00 AM.

I will produce a map of the neighborhood with a list of items for sale at the addresses of participants.  This map will be given out to people as they enter the neighborhood with other instructions about the garage sale.

This is a very popular event, and most of you will sell out by noon.  The neighborhood will be full of people and it is a good time to sell what ever you would like.

To participate in the maps, just e-mail me a list of the items you are selling.  I would like to have the lists by Thursday.  I will send out a copy of the map to the neighborhood so that you have the first opportunity to buy some of these great items.  This will occur on Friday and if there is something you might be interested in, you can go by and see your neighbors and the item ahead of the sale.

If you are new to the garage sale, you will be surprised at the traffic we will get.  This garage sale is very popular.  If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me either by e-mail of by phone.

There is no cost to you participating, and if you do not want to have a list, simply open your garage door and put items out on the driveway.  There will be a lot of traffic, but we have found that the maps and lists help people get to the items they are interested in.

 Good Luck!
